Research: Wellness Community Kitchen
This project, Learning Laughing Sharing Growing through Food, began as my senior graphic design thesis project and through my involvement in Recreation and Wellness at St. Edward’s University. Combining my passions for food and wellness, I started on a journey to understand how I could design an experience and space within St. Edward’s University that integrally strives to create a more equitable food system. My goals for this project is to 1. Create community leaders, 2. Empower people, 3. Foster collaboration, 4. Embody sustainable practices, 5. Serve the Austin community, 6. Be a place where friendship can grow and cultural diversity is shared.

I have shared my initial proposal with the University community. I am continuing to take feedback from students, University administration, and other community stakeholders. This is an ongoing project. If you are interested in learning more about this project or would like to bounce around ideas with me regarding how we can create more equitable food systems give me a shout.
Process work included: site visits, interviews, curation, photography, copy and content writing, layout design, printing, and vinyl cutting.
As a freshman in college I found an interest in sustainability and food systems. Since developing this interest, I have talked to local leaders fighting to reduce food waste and volunteered in smaller community gardens and soup kitchens. I enjoy being able to make a difference in my local food system, particularly helping the most vulnerable people.
